聖母頌就是天主教徒常在背的聖母經，西方音樂史裡，不少音樂家都為它譜過曲，其中到現在最有名的就是舒伯特和古諾的兩個版本；舒伯特的版本甚至在許多電視電影廣告裡當作配樂出現過，聽來就像躺在聖母懷中般溫暖感動；而古諾更因為長期受到宗教情操的影響，所作的聖母頌也融合了巴哈的平均率方法，聽來也另人感動。

所選的版本，舒伯特的版本Celine Dion演唱，由現代的唱腔重新銓釋這首藝術歌曲，聽來別有一翻滋味；而古諾的版本是由天籟美聲 Charlotte小妹妹(當時)演唱，讓人不得不配服她那種年紀就有這種唱功。

Gloria In Excelsis Deo即拉丁文中"榮耀歸於神"的意思，我們在許多天主教的教堂裡都可以看到這行文字。在歷史上，亦有許多作曲家以這短短的五個單字譜成曲，這些曲子簡稱榮耀頌。為什麼這行字跟聖誕有關呢？是傳說耶穌降生那晚，天使報這個好消息給在曠野的牧羊人，裡面就有提到"在至高之處榮耀神...."

這裡選的是我巴洛克時代音樂Vivaldi, Antonio(韋瓦第)的版本

這首是由十七世紀聖詩作曲家Isaac Watts(以撒華滋)所作，被稱為"聖詩之父"的他，一生作曲無數，而這首Joy to the world更是無人不知無人不曉。這首詩歌氣勢恢宏壯闊，由大詩班演唱尤其可銓釋出來；到了現代，這首歌已經成為聖誕必備歌曲，因此宗教的意味也減少許多，近年也有許多歌星在其聖誕專輯裡用不同的曲風演唱它。

所選的是版本，其一是美國猶他州摩門教天幕教堂合唱團的演唱；其三的視屏是Mariah Carey(瑪莉亞凱莉)的LIVE版本，當然，我個人是覺得這個版本是熱鬧有餘，感人不足啦。

上面提到的，當年硬生生的把Last Christmas擠到第二名的就是這首"Do They Know It's Christmas"；這首歌是由一個叫Band Aid的組合所唱，說是組合，其實它集合了八十年代英國最當時最紅的的歌手和樂隊，為非州難民而唱的慈善單曲，在英國流行音樂史上極具歷史性紀念意義。

這樣的組合，也直接的影響到後來的"We are tje world"以及華人的"明天會更好"。而"Band Aid"除了在1984年外，在1989年也有第二代的"Band Aid 2"以及二十週年2004年的"Band Aid 20"，都由一代代不同的歌星及曲風演繹著這首歌曲。

值得一提的是，上面提到的George Michael也有為這首歌獻唱，雖然Last Christmas屈居第二名，但他可說是面子裡子都得到了。
